As unique as Insanity is, it is still very similar to all fitness programs in that it is made up of two key components: Exercise and Diet. What sets Insanity apart from all other programs, however, is the nature of the exercise, how the exercises are led and when you do the exercises.
The exercises are intense, extreme and transformational. They are probably harder and more intense than anything you will ever do in your life save for extreme military training or extreme sports training. They will work you, they will shape you and they will put you in control of your own health and fitness. Brought to you by acclaimed fitness trainer Shaun T, the first thing most people notice is the intensity of the pace of the program and the apparent lack of rest in the circuits. All of the routines in Insanity are geared toward high intensity circuit training, a style that raises your heart rate rather quickly and holds it high for a time before allowing you time to let it recover. The recovery time is very short, usually 30 seconds, before you are right back in the mix of the exercises.
Another intense aspect of Insanity is the workout schedule. Unlike many programs that work you out three or even four days a week, Insanity works you out six days a week. Hard. The Insanity exercise schedule is what allows such rapid results on the program and why the program is only 63 days long.
