One of the many aspects of Insanity that make it such a successful program is the creator of the program, Shaun T, and the way he leads each program. Shaun T is an energetic, fit young man that knows how to lead a group in exercise. He also knows fitness and how to tailor a series of exercises in a way that achieves the maximum results for the work that they do.
As a trainer, he leads each program as though he were right there in the room with you. He talks to you, he experiences the workouts with you and he motivates you throughout every program. He is right there working out with you almost every step of the way. Sometimes he isn’t working out, but those times are few and far between and generally only when he is either taking a rest or pointing out correct or incorrect form by one of the team members.
He demands your very best and he does it in a way that makes you actually want to give it. And as often as you will want to swear at him or tell him you hate him, at the end of the workouts you will genuinely wish he were in your room so you could give him a high five and tell him thanks for working you out as effectively as he did.
But the very best part of having Shaun T as a trainer is that he proves to you over and over again that he is indeed human and needs rest during the exercises just like you do. He is not a robot. He is a man. He workouts with you and, when he needs to rest, he rests. Then he gets right back into it just like he asks each of his team members, and you as well, to do. He works hard, he sweats hard and he rests hard. And when it is all done, he congratulates you on doing a good and makes you wonder if tomorrow it might be a little easier to keep up with him.
