NOTE: If you are following the Insanity schedule as you should be, today would have been a Cardio Recovery day for you. Since this is my second round of Insanity I am taking things a little different and have chosen to replace all of my recovery and Core Cardio and Balance days with Max Interval Sports Training.
I will spare the details of the Max Interval Sports Training routine I did today in light of the fact that I was completely exhausted as I worked out today. I think the overreaching nature of my workouts over the last couple of days caught up with me tonight because I was dragging hard the entire 54 minutes of this workout.
The last few times I’ve done this one I was pretty energized going into it. I was not quite as energized going in to tonight’s workout as I have been, but when it was all said and done I was plenty energized. So much so that I was wide awake for hours tonight after working out. Which to me is another sign that I need to stop working out at night and get back to starting my day with Insanity.
The program itself seemed unusually hard for me. Again, I think because of how tired I was before even starting it. It was still fun, and in my opinion is the single funnest Insanity program available. But it was hard to do for me tonight. I did get a great workout in though, and was able to build up a great sweat. I’m really loving how hard I can push myself through these exercises before completely crapping out. At one point in the workout I was grunting in pain so bad as I jumped around my living room that my wife had to ask me if I was OK. After I regained my breathing enough to be able to talk I explained to her that I was simply killing my legs by jumping as much as I could through the pain.
Really this is an awesome feeling being able to keep up with the Insanity crew. I still have my moments of burning out, but I am now at a point in my fitness that I can get back into the exercise very quickly. I am also recovering very quickly during breaks.
So if you are on your own Insanity journey, perhaps just starting yours, or maybe you are well into it but not seeing the fitness results that you had hoped for, remember, you are improving your health and fitness. Even if you don’t see it just yet, you are better today than you were yesterday. Keep fighting hard, keep pushing through and keep digging deeper. You are insane for doing this, and your results will be just as insane.
